Location

Location of where the footages were taken - somewhere in NYP. As long as there is a ground and a sky it will do. Found a scene where there are no human traffic to interrupt the shooting and the background is relatively suited for the story.

Previs

Finally the video is uploaded and ready in Vimeo. Previs of the whole video shots in bluescreen and rotoscoped are done as below. Timing and general idea of the animation and effects in placed in the rotoscoped video.

Did the shoots with the background today at NYP. Was very fulfilling and efficient as the test shots taken at the blue screen helped in focusing on filming the shots required. Will post in the next post =)

Updates on progress

Was trying out the previz with the test shots and believe that some of the scenes will be too time consuming. Tried doing the laser eye effect and the surrounding of the enemies scenes. Cool to have them in the scenes but the resources will be spread out if these scenes are added. Thus, will take them out to concentrate on the other scenes. 

Test shot (Blue screen)

Did a test shot last Saturday with awesome actor Afan in NYP's blue screen room (originally is a green screen). The acting is great, thanks Afan =) Tried out a few shots at different angles, expressions and poses. Had a better feel of what the sequences and the timing of the whole video will be like. 

Unfortunately, when we were to take our outdoor shots, it was raining. We had to postpone the shoot to another time. Will try to incorporate the basic effects and models into the scenes next.

Prequel - Raging Jedi 1

The video is the Previz of the prequel to the next video I will be making. It was done in the foundation module of the FX course. Enjoy - Raging Jedi 1 :) (bit rough though as it is still a Previz)

1) surrounded by enemies - scene in the last fight when Neo Vs Agent Smith
Plan to use Maya and Nuke to composite the characters into the scene.

2) laser eyes - similar to Superman laser vision which can be simulated using After Effects

3) falling sphere - can be similar to a falling meteor with a spherical core, something like the below.
Plan to use Houdini to create the effect.

4) fracturing ground - can be similar to the Voronoi effect learnt in class using Houdini.

Location can be anywhere with a flat surface and a sky as all the scenes does not require any other structures. For easier access, NYP will be used as the filming location. Pictures coming soon!

Storyboard

The story board of a 'Jedi' who encountered several black creatures. He blast them away with laser beams from his eyes. However, when he is about to relax, he sensed danger. A giant sphere approached him from the top at fast speed. He managed to block the sphere and threw it away with great difficulty.
